Not only this classes has a few useful and lasting buffs (those are exactly the points that 'don't really do much anyway', mind you), but also a nice passive skill that boosts those buffs even more. Now, the key concept of this scheme is a Miner dealing tons of damage with a multitude of hefty burning effects applied to surviving enemies here and there, which can hardly be achieved without proper buffing (because in general the larger the hit, the larger the applying burn), and this is where a properly trained Medic/Chemist shines. The squad buildup is far from being completed and it's members aren't even 6th lvl yet, but with their current gears (part of which are carefully crafted) and point distribution my guys deal with any threat the game throws at them if just a few turns, a result I humbly consider a decent milestone to be reached by any party worth their salt. My current party consists of Medic/Chemist, Scavenger/Functionnaire and Miner/Quartermeister. Long story short: those are a highly exaggerated statements.
